The Woodstock School of Ballet first opened in 1985 with a commitment to offering the community the highest standards for dance training, and related arts. Since then, students have thrived in a professional, caring atmosphere, learning from some of the metro area's finest instructors.

Our philosophy is to encourage students, in a positive environment, to be self-motivated, competing only with themselves, and to develop a sense of personal accomplishment.

Physically, students will gain strength, coordination, flexibility, and good body alignment from their training. Other benefits include self-confidence, poise, good classroom manners and just plain fun!

APRIL NEWS AND HAPPENINGS

COSTUMES....most costumes have arrived, although some are not scheduled to be here until the first week of May. Take good care of these between now and show time! Please make sure to check with your instructor for any instructions. Some costumes need minor sewing, such as hemming or attaching straps. Instructors will let you know the details, including info about hair, headpieces, tights and shoes. Tights are available at WSB.

PICTURE WEEK…..Visit our photo gallery at the studio to see examples of our photographer’s work! Amanda Neeley and AMN Photography will, once again, be taking both group and individual photos during regular class time the week of May 14. More about this in the next newsletter.

SUMMER CAMPS AND CLASSES…..Register this month for summer dance! Weekly classes will meet Tuesdays throughout June and July beginning June 5. Cherokee Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive is June 4-15. Fairy Tale Camps and Princess Camps are scheduled during several summer weeks. The Fall schedule will be out soon, as well. See us for more information!

CBT AUDITIONS…..If you are a rising 3rd thru 12th grader and are interested in auditioning to become a Cherokee Ballet Theatre dancer for the 2012-2013 season, please speak with Ms. Dana for more info. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, May 29 and CBT’s Summer Intensive is a requirement. Lousiville Ballet’s Christy Corbitt Miller will once again be joining us for 2 exciting weeks in June! We hope to see many of our dancers there!

RECITAL…WSB’s Spring Recital, Color My World, is Sat., June 2 at River Ridge High School. We have shows at 1p.m., 4p.m. and 7:00p.m. that day. Each class will be assigned to a show time and a dress rehearsal time. That schedule will be posted soon. All participating families will receive 3 tickets, and you may purchase additional tickets beginning May.

LAST CALL FOR LOST & FOUND…Are you sure you aren’t missing something? There are so many items left in the dressing room lost and found baskets. Please take a look this week, as we are getting ready to clean house!

PARENT OBSERVATION WEEK…We are always happy to be able to invite you in for a peek. Thanks for coming and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

ONGOING CLASSES ... As all dance classes are busy with recital choreography until the end of May, we are not accepting new students until the summer classes and camps begin. Let us know if you have interested friends who would like to be on our mailing list for summer and fall 2012.

Special Announcements:

NEWSLETTER...Check out the newsletter archive.

TUITION…is due the first week of each month. No notice will be sent for this, but we will have monthly reminders in each newsletter. You will be billed after the 10th of the month, if payment has not been made, and a $15.00 late fee will be included. There is a $15.00 charge for returned checks. Tuition may be paid by cash or check, and you can mail this or drop it into our tuition box in the lobby. If paying by cash, always get a receipt at the front desk. If paying by check, please put your child’s name on the check if you have a different last name.

ATTIRE…is specified for each class, so please make sure you have your child outfitted properly, including hair up and limited jewelry. Put your name on all attire, and if lost, we will make sure you get it back. Don’t forget to put your name on the inside of each shoe. Dance shoes may NOT be worn outside. It is always a good idea to have a bag for shoes and accessories. Our dressing rooms can be congested at times, so if at all possible, dress before coming to class. Be sure to check the lost and found bins in each dressing room if you are missing anything!

WINTER BREAK…All classes WILL MEET as usual the week of Cherokee Co. Schools’ break in February. Our only scheduled break between now and the end of the school year is Spring Break, Monday April 2 through Saturday April 7.

“SNOW DAYS”…..Our policy states that if Cherokee Co. Schools adjourn for weather related reasons (snow, tornado warnings, etc.) so do we. This policy stands regardless of the weather conditions, so as to avoid last minute confusion. These cancellations are not made up, but you are always welcomed to come to extra classes to make up any misses that occur due to our schedule or yours. See the schedule for age-appropriate classes.

EMAIL ADDRESSES….Please email us at woodstockballet@bellsouth.net if you need to update your email address. We will gladly send out our monthly newsletter to you, and any other pertinent information.
