Woodstock School of Ballet first opened in 1985
with a commitment to offering the community the highest standards
for dance training, and related arts. Since then, students
have thrived in a professional, caring atmosphere, learning
from some of the metro area's finest instructors.
Our philosophy is to encourage students,
in a positive environment, to be self-motivated, competing
only with themselves, and to develop a sense of personal accomplishment.
Physically, students will gain strength,
coordination, flexibility, and good body alignment from their
training. Other benefits include self-confidence, poise, good
classroom manners and just plain fun!
SPRING IS IN THE AIR
Mark your calendars…all classes will be adjourned for Spring Break the week of April 8 - 13.
RECITAL…WSB’s Spring Recital, The Four Seasons, is Sat., June 8 at Reinhardt University’s Falany Performing Arts Center. We have shows at 1p.m., 4p.m. and 7:00p.m. that day. Each class will be assigned to a show time and a dress rehearsal time. That schedule will be posted in a few weeks. All participating families will receive 2 tickets, after your recital fee has been paid, and you may purchase additional tickets beginning May 1st.
Recital fees due…The recital fee is $30 per family and is due now. You may include it with your tuition. Remember, if you have more than one dancer, you pay only one fee. Each family will receive 2 tickets to the recital and more tickets may be purchased in May. Our recital theme is The Four Seasons, and we look forward to presenting it this year at Reinhardt University’s Falany Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 8. Shows that day are at 1p.m., 4p.m. and 7p.m. Each class will be assigned to one of these show times, TBA later.
COSTUMES...most costumes have arrived, although some are not scheduled to be here until later this month. Take good care of these between now and show time! Please make sure to check with your instructor for any instructions. Some costumes need minor sewing, such as hemming or attaching straps. Instructors will let you know the details, including info about hair, headpieces, tights and shoes. Tights are available at WSB starting May 1st.
PICTURE WEEK…..Visit our photo gallery at the studio to see examples of our photographer’s work! Amanda Neeley and AMN Photography will, once again, be taking both group and individual photos during regular class time the week of May 13th. You will receive more about this in the next newsletter.
SUMMER CAMPS AND CLASSES…..Register this month for summer dance! Weekly classes will meet Tuesdays throughout June and July beginning June 11. Cherokee Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive is June 10-21. Children’s camps are the weeks of June 24 and July 15th. Workshops are planned as well, for Company dancers. The new season will begin in August for the 2013/2014 school year. That schedule will be out as of May 1st and registration will begin. Click here for more info.
Cherokee Ballet Theatre….CBT’s annual Company Camp will meet from June 10-14 & 17-21 and is a requirement for all Company dancers. This is a wonderful two weeks of intense training and much fun! Auditions for CBT placement are held in May, and are open to students who are rising 3rd thru 12th graders. If you are interested in becoming a member of CBT, please speak with Ms. Dana for the details.
Parent Observation Week….We invite you to observe classes the week of April 1st-6th. Please come see the progress your child is making. We’ll give you a recital preview!
Ongoing Classes….As all dance classes are busy with recital choreography until the end of May, we are not accepting new students until the summer classes and camps begin.Let us know if you have interested friends who would like to be on our mailing list for summer and fall 2013.
NEWSLETTER: Monthly newsletters will be emailed at the beginning of each month. If you are not receiving the newsletter by email, please let us know. We need to be sure that you are getting information each month that will keep you up to date and notified of any news or upcoming holidays.

NEWSLETTER...Check out the newsletter archive.
TUITION…is due the first week of each month. No notice will be sent for this, but we will have monthly reminders in each newsletter. You will be billed after the 10th of the month, if payment has not been made, and a $15.00 late fee will be included. There is a $15.00 charge for returned checks. Tuition may be paid by cash or check, and you can mail this or drop it into our tuition box in the lobby. If paying by cash, always get a receipt at the front desk. If paying by check, please put your child’s name on the check if you have a different last name.
ATTIRE…is specified for each class, so please make sure you have your child outfitted properly, including hair up and limited jewelry. Put your name on all attire, and if lost, we will make sure you get it back. Don’t forget to put your name on the inside of each shoe. Dance shoes may NOT be worn outside. It is always a good idea to have a bag for shoes and accessories. Our dressing rooms can be congested at times, so if at all possible, dress before coming to class. Be sure to check the lost and found bins in each dressing room if you are missing anything!
“SNOW DAYS”…..Our policy states that if Cherokee Co. Schools adjourn for weather related reasons (snow, tornado warnings, etc.) so do we. This policy stands regardless of the weather conditions, so as to avoid last minute confusion. These cancellations are not made up, but you are always welcomed to come to extra classes to make up any misses that occur due to our schedule or yours. See the schedule for age-appropriate classes.
